Telmisartan / Amlodipine Besylate is a combination of two active ingredients. Telmisartan is a non-peptide angiotensin II receptor antagonist that has antihypertensive properties. This medication antagonizes angiotensin II binding to the AT1 subtype receptor, present in vascular smooth muscle and adrenal gland. It leads to vasodilation and inhibits angiotensin II-mediated aldosterone production that also decreases sodium and water as well as an increase in potassium excretion leading to a subsequent reduction in blood pressure.

Amlodipine Besylate component shows antihypertensive and antianginal effects. It acts by inhibiting the influx of extracellular calcium ions into myocardial and peripheral vascular smooth muscle cells. It is for preventing vascular and myocardial contraction. This active component may also modulate multi-drug resistance activity via inhibition of the p-glycoprotein efflux pump.
