Description
Active Ingredient: Metoprolol Tartrate is an active component in this medication. It is a cardioselective competitive beta-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist. It is devoid of intrinsic sympathomimetic activity. It reduces the rate and force of myocardial contraction, and consequently a diminished cardiac output. This active component reduces the secretion of renin with a subsequent reduction in levels of angiotensin II to decrease the sympathetic activation, for instance, vasoconstriction, aldosterone secretion.
Indications: Given medicine is composed of active component Metoprolol, which is approved to treat high blood pressure or hypertension. Decreasing high blood pressure prevents strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Lopressor is indicated to treat chest pain or angina and to improve survival after a heart attack. This beta-blocker drug blocks the action of certain natural chemicals in the body, like epinephrine, on the heart and blood vessels. This process leads to the lowering of the heart rate, blood pressure, and strain on the heart.
It also affects the heart & circulation and used to lower the risk of death or needing to be hospitalized for heart failure.
Action Mechanism: This mentioned medication is a beta-blocker that works by relaxing blood vessels and slowing the speed of heart rate. It improves blood flow and decreases blood pressure. Lopressor can also improve the likelihood of survival after a heart attack.
Dosages: This drug is made available for oral consumption in dosages as given below:
- 25 mg: This medication shall be consumed 1 to 3 times a day with or right after a meal, as directed by the doctor
- 50 mg: It is to be consumed 1 to 3 times a day with a meal as prescribed by the doctor
