Description
Active Ingredient: Meloxicam is an active component used in medication to treat arthritis. It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that has anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and analgesic activities. It is a nonselective NSAIDs that inhibits the activity of cyclo-oxygenase II, leads to decrease in a conversion of arachidonic acid into prostaglandin precursors. As a con sequence prostaglandin synthesis is decreased for the therapeutic effects of this drug.

It treats pain or inflammation caused by osteoarthritis in adults and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis in children above 2 years old.
Action Mechanism: There are chemicals that contribute to inflammation especially within joints called Prostaglandins. It is the inflammation that results in the common symptoms of pain, tenderness, and swelling related to arthritis. Mobic blocks the enzymes that produce prostaglandins and decreases the levels of prostaglandins. As a consequence, inflammation and its symptoms are reduced.
Dosages: This effective drug is offered in dosages as mentioned below:
- 7.5 mg: This medication should be taken once a day as directed by the doctor
- 15 mg: It must be consumed once a day with or without food as mentioned in the prescription by the doctor
Note: This drug can increase the risk of fatal heart attack or stroke, if used for long times. Do not use this drug just before or after heart bypass surgery.
