Description
Active Ingredient
The mentioned medication contains the main active ingredient, Alendronate Sodium. This active ingredient is the sodium salt of alendronate, a second-generation bisphosphonate and synthetic analog of pyrophosphate. It shows bone anti-resorption activity. This is an enzyme involved in terpenoid biosynthesis. Due to the inhibition of this enzyme, it prevents the biosynthesis of isoprenoid lipids that are donor substrates of farnesylation and geranylgeranylation. This results in inhibition and bone resorption and turnover are reduced.
