Amlodipine Besylate / Olmesartan Medoxomil Is a combination of two active components used to treat high blood pressure. This medication is a synthetic dihydropyridine with antihypertensive and antianginal effects. It acts by inhibiting the influx of extracellular calcium ions into myocardial and peripheral vascular smooth muscle cells to prevent the vascular and myocardial contraction. This results in a dilatation of the main coronary and systemic arteries decreased myocardial contractility, increased blood flow and oxygen delivery to the myocardial tissue, and decreased total peripheral resistance.

Olmesartan Medoxomil component shows an antihypertensive property. After hydrolysis, this ingredient is converted to Olmesartan that binds to the angiotensin type 1 (AT1) receptor of angiotensin II in vascular smooth muscle and adrenal gland to compete for angiotensin II binding to the receptor.
