Drospirenone-Ethinyl Estradiol is combination of two medication used to prevent pregnancy. Drospirenone is a synthetic spironolactone analogue and progestin that shows activities of progestational and anti-mineralocorticoid. This ingredient binds to the progesterone receptor that activates and binds to specific sites on DNA. Ethinyl Estradiol ingredient is a semisynthetic estrogen that binds to the estrogen receptor complex and enters the nucleus. It activates DNA transcription of genes involved in estrogenic cellular responses.

Working: This medication is a combination of 2 hormones Drospirenone – Ethinyl Estradiol i.e. an estrogen and a progestin. It is used to prevent pregnancy that acts by preventing the release of an egg during the menstrual cycle. It also produces vaginal fluid thicker to help prevent sperm from reaching an egg and changes the lining of the uterus to prevent attachment of a fertilized egg.
Uses: This medicine is indicated for the treatment of premenstrual dysphoric disorder or moderate acne in case of chosen to use birth control pills as the method of pregnancy prevention.
