Description
Active Ingredient: This medicine contains a combination of two active ingredients Drospirenone and Ethinyl Estradiol. Drospirenone is a progestin, a steroid lactone, and a 3-oxo-Delta steroid. It acts as a contraceptive drug, an aldosterone antagonist and a progestin. It has anti-mineralocorticoid properties that exhibit antiandrogenic activity.
Ethinyl Estradiol is estrogen and acts as an Estrogen Receptor Agonist. It exhibits high estrogenic potency on oral administration. It plays the role of a xenoestrogen. It is used in combination with progestogen as an oral contraceptive.
Indications: This mentioned medicine is approved for the treatment of a premenstrual dysphoric disorder or moderate acne if you have chosen to use birth control pills as the method of pregnancy prevention. It also used to make the periods more regular, decrease blood loss and painful periods, and decrease the risk of ovarian cysts.
Consuming this medicine does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV, gonorrhea, chlamydia. Yasmin is also used to treat moderate acne in women who are at least 14 years old and started menstrual periods, and who wish to use birth control pills.
Action Mechanism: This mentioned medication is a combination of 2 hormones i.e. estrogen and a progestin. It is used to prevent pregnancy. The medicine Yasmin acts by protecting the release of an egg during the menstrual cycle of the women. It also forms vaginal fluid thicker to help prevent sperm from reaching an egg i.e. fertilization. It changes the lining of the uterus to prevent attachment of a fertilized egg. If a fertilized egg unable to attach to the uterus, it passes out of the body.
Dosages: This particular medicine is available in a dosage as mentioned below:
- 3 mg + 0.03 mg: This pill must be taken orally as prescribed by the doctor, with or without food, usually once a day
