Description
Active Ingredient: The active ingredient of the medication is Entecavir, which is an anhydrous formulation of entecavir, a synthetic analog of 2-deoxyguanosine with antiviral activity against hepatitis B virus (HBV). This component is activated in vivo to a 5-triphosphate metabolite. In turn, the triphosphate form competes with the natural substrate deoxyguanosine triphosphate for incorporation into viral DNA. It also inhibits the reverse transcriptase viral RNA-dependent HBV DNA polymerase and, so, the replication of viral DNA and transcription.
Indications: Entecavir composed medicine Baraclude is used to treat long-term hepatitis B infection. This is an infection of the liver caused by the hepatitis B virus. Long-term infection can cause liver damage, rarely liver cancer, and liver failure. This medicine helps to decrease the amount of hepatitis B virus in your body. It lowers your chance of getting liver cancer or liver damage. This drug is an antiviral that belongs to a class of drugs known as hepatitis B virus nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors.
Action Mechanism: This mentioned medicine is a nucleoside analog, or more specifically, a deoxyguanosine analogue. Baraclude belongs to a class of carbocyclic nucleosides and inhibits reverse transcription, DNA replication and transcription in the viral replication process.
