Working: Desmopressin Acetate is used in the treatment of nighttime bed-wetting, central diabetes insipidus, and increased thirst and urination caused by head surgery or head trauma. This component is a man-made form of a hormone that occurs naturally in the pituitary gland and regulates the uses of water in the body. The hormone is vasopressin and is used to replace a low level of vasopressin. It helps to control increased thirst and too much urination due to these conditions and helps prevent dehydration.
Uses: This medication is used to control the amount of urine the kidneys produce. Usually, the amount of urine produced is controlled by a certain substance in the body called vasopressin. In people who have diabetes insipidus or certain kinds of head injury or brain surgery, the body does not make enough vasopressin. Desmopressin Acetate is a man-made form of vasopressin and is used to replace a low level of vasopressin. It is used to control nighttime bedwetting in children that reduce how often the child urinates and decreases the number of bedwetting episodes.
