Ivermectin
Ivermectin is a medicinal drug that shows antiparasitic activity. This ingredient exerts its anthelmintic effect by activating glutamate-gated chloride channels on nematode neurons. Ivermectin-activated channels remain slow so that neurons or muscle cells remain at either a hyperpolarisation or depolarization state. It leads to paralysis and the death of the parasites. The ingredient does not readily pass the mammal blood-brain barrier to the nervous system where glutamate-gated chloride channels are found, therefore the hosts are resistant to the effects of this medication. It is available in the form of a conventional tablet.
