Naproxen Sodium is a medication, which is an organic sodium salt consisting of equimolar amounts of naproxen and sodium. This medication has a role as a non-narcotic analgesic, a cyclooxygenase 2 inhibitor, a cyclooxygenase 1 inhibitor, an antipyretic and a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug.  It shows the properties of anti-inflammatory analgesic and antipyretic. It inhibits cyclooxygenases so as to block the conversion of arachidonic acid to pro-inflammatory prostaglandins.

Working: This medicine Naproxen Sodium belongs to a class of drugs called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It is used for the management of mild to moderate pain, fever, and inflammation. It works by decreasing the levels of prostaglandins, chemicals that cause pain, fever, and inflammation. This medicine restricts the enzyme that produces prostaglandins, lead to lower concentrations of prostaglandins that result in the reduction of inflammation, pain, and fever.

Uses: This NSAID drug Naproxen Sodium is indicated for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, juvenile arthritis, and menstrual period pain.  It also treats tendonitis, bursitis, and symptoms of gout.
