The active ingredient of this medicine is Eslicarbazepine Acetate, which is the acetate ester, with an S configuration, of licarbazepine. An anticonvulsant, it is approved for use as adjunctive therapy for epilepsy. It plays a role as an anticonvulsant and a drug allergen. It is an acetate ester, a dibenzoazepine, a carboxamide, and a member of ureas. It derives from a licarbazepine. This medicine is a prodrug that is rapidly converted to eslicarbazepine, the primary active metabolite in the body.
Indications
Eslicarbazepine composed medication Aptiom is used alone or with other medications to treat a certain type of seizure disorder or focal seizures. It belongs to a class of drugs known as anticonvulsants. It may reduce the number of seizures you have.
Action Mechanism
This anticonvulsant drug works by decreasing nerve impulses that cause seizures and pain. Aptiom also helps to reduce the number of seizures an individual has.
Dosages
This medicine is available for oral consumption and in dosage as mentioned below:
- 200 mg: This medicine shall be taken with or without food as directed by the doctor, usually once a day
- 400 mg: It is to be consumed once a day exactly as directed by the doctor
- 600 mg: This tablet shall be consumed once a day with or without food as prescribed by the doctor
- 800 mg: Take this medicine as advised by the doctor.
