This is broken down by the hepatic cytochrome P450 system and affects on the metabolism of other drugs broken down by this system; This is a serotonin 5-HT3 receptor antagonist indicated mainly to treat nausea and vomiting chemotherapy. Its effects are thought to be on both peripheral and central nerves. It reduces the activity of the vagus nerve that activates the vomiting center in the medulla oblongata.
Indications

Zofran is indicated to prevent nausea and vomiting that may be induced by surgery, cancer chemotherapy, or radiation treatment. Action Mechanism

Dosages
This medicine is available for oral consumption as follows:
- 4 mg: This medication should be taken orally 1 to 2 hours before the start of the treatment
- 8 mg: It can be taken two times a day as advised by the doctor. Do not go against it
