Temozolomide is used as the main active component in the given medication. It shows antineoplastic activity. It acts as a cytotoxic alkylating agent, which is converted at physiologic pH to the short-lived active compound, monomethyl triazine imidazole carboxamide. The cytotoxicity is due primarily to the methylation of DNA at the O6 and N7 positions of guanine. It leads to the inhibition of DNA replication. This active component is metabolized to MITC at all sites and penetrates well into the central nervous system.
Indications
Temozolomide composed of medicine is indicated for the treatment of cancer. It interferes with the growth and spread of cancer cells in the body in the body. Temodar is approved with radiation therapy to treat certain types of brain tumors in adults and is usually given after other cancer medicines have been tried without success.
Action Mechanism
This mentioned medication works by restricting cancer cells from forming DNA. DNA stands for Deoxyribonucleic Acid, which is the genetic material of a cell. If the cancer cells stop making DNA, they can’t split into new cells. This way Temodar restricts the cancer cells from growing.
Dosages
