The main active ingredient is Aprepitant in the medication. It is an antiemetic agent that is used to prevent postoperatively or cancer chemotherapy-related nausea and vomiting. Emend Tri-Pack is related to a low rate of serum enzyme elevations during therapy. Action Mechanism
The active ingredient Aprepitant is a member of a class of drugs called neurokinin 1 receptor antagonists. This medicine can be used along with other drugs 5-HT3 antagonists like ondansetron or granisetron and dexamethasone which prevents nausea and vomiting caused by certain types of chemotherapy. Emend Tri-Pack acts by blocking neurokinin, a substance in the brain responsible for nausea and vomiting.
Dosages
This effective medicine is available in dosages as mentioned below:
- 80 mg: It is available for oral administration with or without food as advised by the doctor, swallow the capsules whole.
- 125 mg: Swallow the capsule exactly as directed by the doctor, not against the doctor
Note
Continue this medicine once a day 1 hour before the start of chemotherapy. Consumption of alcohol or tobacco should be avoided.
