What Does It Do?
The medicine Norvir is composed of Ritonavir. This drug in the pill belongs to the class of antiretroviral medications known as protease inhibitors (PIs). The medicine Ritonavir is used in combination with other HIV medications for the treatment of infection which is caused due to conditions like the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) for adults and children more than 2 years old. This particular condition of HIV is the virus that is highly responsible for acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). HIV infection destroys CD4 (T) cells which are highly important to the immune system. The immune system shall help in fighting such infections.
Working:
The component Ritonavir in medicine does the job by blocking the action of protease, which is an enzyme that the virus might need to multiply. Norvir does not cure AIDS and does not prevent it from being spread to other humans.
