Given medication has an active ingredient Tamoxifen Citrate. This ingredient is a nonsteroidal selective estrogen receptor modulator. It acts by inhibiting the binding of estradiol to estrogen receptors to prevent the receptor from binding to the estrogen-response element on DNA. As a consequence, a reduction in DNA synthesis occurs and cellular response to estrogen. It up-regulates the production of transforming growth factor B, a factor that inhibits tumor cell growth, and down-regulates insulin-like growth factor 1, a factor. It also stimulates breast cancer cell growth.
Indications
This mentioned medication is indicated for the treatment of breast cancer. Nolvadex is also used to decrease the risks of breast cancer in high-risk people. It blocks the growth of breast cancer by interfering with the effects of estrogen in the breast tissue.
