Description
Active Ingredient
The active component of this medicine is Probenecid, which is a benzoic acid derivative with the anti hyperuricemic property. It inhibits the active reabsorption of urate at the proximal tubule in the kidney thereby increasing the urinary excretion of uric acid and lowering serum urate concentrations. It also prevents urate deposition and promotes the resolution of existing urate deposits. In addition, the component modulates the transport of organic acids and acidic drugs at the proximal and distal renal tubule, to increase the drug serum concentration.
