Active Ingredient

This effective medication contains the active component Ketoconazole. It is a phenylpiperazine that shows broad antifungal properties and potential antineoplastic activity. This active component inhibits sterol 14-a-demethylase, a microsomal cytochrome P450-dependent enzyme to disrupt the synthesis of ergosterol. It is an important component of the fungal cell wall. This active ingredient is an imidazole fungicidal factor with a very broad spectrum of activity against many fungal species. It is used for the treatment of superficial and systemic fungal infections.

Indications

This particular medicine is indicated to treat skin infections like athlete’s foot, jock itch, ringworm, and certain kinds of dandruff. Nizoral is also treated for a skin condition called pityriasis or tinea versicolor, a fungal infection that induces a lightening or darkening of the skin of the neck, chest, arms, or legs. It is an azole antifungal that prevents the growth of fungus.
