Given antifungal medication is composed of the active component Griseofulvin. It is derived from the mold Penicillium griseofulvin that is used to treat fungal infections of the skin and nails. It disrupts microtubule function and inhibits mitosis. This fungistatic agent used to treat superficial fungal skin infections like tinea capitis and pedis. It can be used in transient mild-to-moderate serum aminotransferase elevations. This active component is an effective solution to treat fungal infections.
Indications
This effective medication is indicated for the treatment of fungal infections of the skin, hair, and nails. It is used to treat fungal infections that do not respond to creams/lotions. Treating such infections will get rid of symptoms such as itching, red/peeling/scaly skin, and discolored nails. Grifulvin V acts by obstructing the growth of fungi. It does not work for infections caused by bacteria or yeast.

Action Mechanism
The mentioned medication works by binding to a part of the fungus causing the infection in the body. This restricts the fungus from multiplying. Grifulvin V also prevents fungus from spreading to new cells. These actions cause the infection to die off.
Dosages
It is available for oral consumption in a dosage as mentioned below:
- 500 mg: This tablet should be taken with or after a meal containing a moderate amount of fat, as directed by the doctor
Limit the time in the sunlight. Avoid tanning booths and sunlamps. Advisable to use sunscreen and wear protective clothing when outdoors. Seek medical help immediately in case of sunburn or skin blisters/redness.
