Lurasidone Hydrochloride is an atypical antipsychotic agent indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia. This is the active component that plays the role of a dopaminergic antagonist, a serotonergic antagonist, an adrenergic antagonist, and a second-generation antipsychotic. This component functions as a dopamine d2 receptor antagonist; serotonin 5-ht2 receptor antagonist, serotonin 5-ht7 receptor antagonist, and antagonist of the adrenergic α2a and α2c receptors. This effective drug also treats bipolar disorder.

Indications

This particular medication is approved for the treatment of certain mental/mood disorders for instance schizophrenia, and depression related to bipolar disorder. This medication is indicated to treat schizophrenia in adults and teenagers above 13 years old. It is not recommended for children below 13 years old.
