Description
Active Ingredient
This mentioned medicine is composed of Terbutaline Sulfate as an active component. It is the sulfate salt form of terbutalinethat binds to and activates beta-2 adrenergic receptors, leading to intracellular adenyl cyclase activation via a trimeric G protein and subsequent increase in cyclic cAMP production. It reduces calcium entry into cells and induces the sequestration of intracellular calcium all of which aids the relaxation of airway muscles. This active component also increases mucociliary clearance and reduces release of inflammatory cell mediators.
Indications
Given drug is intended to treat wheezing and shortness of breath from lung problems. Bricanyl treats various conditions like asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchitis and emphysema. Controlling these symptoms can lower time lost from work or school. It is a bronchodilator that works by opening breathing passages to make breathing easier.
Action Mechanism
This is a bronchodilator drug a medication that dilates air passages in the lungs. It attaches to beta adrenergic receptors on muscles surrounding the air passages, causing the muscles to relax and dilate the air passages. Wider air passages allow more air to flow in and out of the lungs. Increased airflow reduces shortness of breath, wheezing, and cough. Bricanyl also is used for delaying premature labor by relaxing the muscles of the uterus that are responsible for expelling the fetus at the time of delivery.
