The active components in Bactrim typically have a half-life of under ten hours following oral administration. This medicine is primarily excreted by the kidneys. The solution is distributed to the sputum, middle ear fluid, and vaginal fluid. The sulfamethoxazole component inhibits the synthesis of dihydrofolic acid by bacteria.
