Directions for Use
Duricef or such drugs should be taken once or twice a day before or after meals, as prescribed by the doctor
Active Ingredient
The main active component of this antibiotic is Cefadroxil, which is the anhydrous form of cefadroxil, a semisynthetic first-generation cephalosporin with antibacterial activity. It binds to and inactivates penicillin-binding proteins located on the inner membrane of the bacterial cell wall. PBPs are enzymes involved in the terminal stages of assembling the bacterial cell wall and in reshaping the cell wall during growth and division. Inactivation of PBPs interferes with the cross-linkage of peptidoglycan chains necessary for bacterial cell wall strength and rigidity. This leads to the weakening of the bacterial cell wall and causes cell lysis.
