Vancomycin Hydrochloride is an active ingredient, which is a tricyclic glycosylated peptide with bactericidal activity. It acts as an against most organisms and has a bacteriostatic effect on enterococci. This antibiotic binds tightly to the D-alanyl-D-alanine portion of cell wall precursors to interfere with bacterial cell wall synthesis. This results in the activation of bacterial autolysins that destroy the cell wall by lysis. This active agent may also alter the permeability of bacterial cytoplasmic membranes and may selectively inhibit RNA synthesis.
