Active Ingredient: This medication is composed of active component Cefprozil. It is a semi-synthetic cephalosporin and a beta-lactam antibiotic with bactericidal activity. It shows effect is dependent on its binding to penicillin-binding proteins present in the bacterial cytoplasmic membrane. Binding leads to the inhibition of the transpeptidase enzymes, so as to prevent cross-linking of the pentaglycine bridge with the fourth residue of the pentapeptide and interrupting consequent synthesis of peptidoglycan chains. It inhibits bacterial septum and cell wall synthesis formation.
Indications: Given drug is a cephalosporin antibiotic that works by fighting bacteria in your body. Cefzil is used to treat many infections caused by bacteria. It is known as a cephalosporin antibiotic. It restrict the growth of bacteria. It will not work for viral infections like common cold, flu.
Action Mechanism: This antibiotic works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Cefzil antibiotic treats only bacterial infections. Unnecessary use or overuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness.
Dosages: This antibiotic medicine is available for oral consumption and in dosage as given below:
- 250 mg: It is to be consumed once or twice a day, or as directed by the doctor. You may take this medicine with food if stomach upset occurs
- 500 mg: This tablet shall be consumed once or twice a day as directed by the doctor
