Metolazone is a quinazoline, which is a diuretic that shows properties similar to thiazide diuretics. It plays the role of a diuretic, an antihypertensive agent, and an ion transport inhibitor.
Indications: Given a water pill is indicated to increase the amount of urine produced by the kidney, which causes the body to get rid of extra water. Zaroxolyn is approved for the treatment of high blood pressure. Decreasing high blood pressure effectively prevents strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems.
It reduces swelling/fluid retention that can result from conditions like congestive heart failure or kidney disease. It improves symptoms like breathing problems.
