It is a vesicular monoamine transporter type 2 inhibitor, which are agents that cause a depletion of neuroactive peptides such as dopamine in nerve terminals. This component is used to treat chorea due to neurodegenerative diseases like Huntington chorea or dyskinesias due to neuroleptic medications.

Indications

Tetrabenazine composed medicine is approved to reduce the uncontrollable movements like chorea caused by Huntington’s disease. This drug is not a cure for the disease. Decreasing the chorea will help take part in more of normal daily activities.
