Description
Active Ingredient
The main active ingredient in the given medication is Bethanechol chloride. This ingredient is the chloride salt of bethanechol. It is used to increase smooth muscle tone, as in the gastrointestinal tract following abdominal surgery, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and as an alternative to catheterization in the treatment of non-obstructive urinary retention. This component plays the role of a muscarinic agonist. Chemically, the ingredient is a carbamate ester, a quaternary ammonium salt, and a chloride salt, which contains a bethanechol.
Indications
This effective solution is indicated for the treatment of certain bladder problems such as the inability to urinate or empty the bladder completely due to certain causes such as surgery, bladder muscle problems. Urecholine helps the bladder muscle to squeeze better so as to improve the ability to urinate. This helps prevent food/acid in the stomach from rising back into the catheterization.
Action Mechanism
This medicine acts by coordination with the bladder muscle to squeeze better, to improve the ability to urinate. It can be used to treat heartburn effectively. It also helps the stomach muscles to move food down out of the stomach faster and to increase the strength of the muscle between the esophagus and stomach i.e. lower esophageal sphincter.
