Description
Active Ingredient: The main active component of this medication is Midodrine Hydrochloride. This active component a direct-acting prodrug and sympathomimetic agent that has antihypotensive properties. It is converted to its active metabolite, desglymidodrine by deglycination reaction. It works by binds to and activates alpha-1-adrenergic receptors of the arteriolar and venous vasculature. This induces smooth muscle contraction and results in an elevation of blood pressure. Desglymidodrine diffuses poorly across the blood-brain barrier.
Indications: This particular medication is indicated for certain people who have symptoms of low blood pressure when standing. This condition is also called orthostatic hypotension. Proamatine is indicated in people whose daily activities are severely affected by this health condition. This is known as a sympathomimetic or alpha receptor agonist that effects on the blood vessels to promote blood pressure.
