Active Ingredient

The active component of this medication Indapamide is an indole derivative of chlorosulphonamide and a sulfamyl diuretic. It shows antihypertensive activity that may interact directly with the subunits of delayed rectifier potassium channels. This process id for blocking both slow and rapid K+ currents through the channels. This active component decreases vascular hyperreactivity and peripheral and arterial vascular resistance by inhibiting transmembrane ionic influx, probably calcium ions. It also stimulates prostaglandin E2 synthesis so as to cause vasodilatation. It also exerts its diuretic effect through inhibition of reabsorption of sodium and chloride that results in an action on the cortical diluting segment of the renal distal tubule to promote urinary excretion of water and electrolytes.

Indications

This diuretic medication is indicated for the treatment of high blood pressure. It is composed of Indapamide to reduce extra fluid in the body caused by heart failure. Decreasing high blood pressure prevents strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. It belongs to a class of drugs called diuretics or water pills. It acts by producing more urine. Lozol also helps the body get rid of extra salt and water. This can lessen symptoms like shortness of breath or swelling in the ankles or feet.

Action Mechanism

Dosages
