Description
Active Ingredient
The main active ingredient in this medication is Clopidogrel Bisulfate. It is a thienopyridine with antiplatelet activity. This active ingredient irreversibly alters the platelet receptor for adenosine diphosphate. It acts by blocking the binding of ADP to its receptor and inhibits ADP-mediated activation of the glycoprotein complex GPIIb. It also inhibits fibrinogen binding to platelets and platelet adhesion and aggregation. It is used to prevent Thromboembolism in people with arterial occlusive diseases.
Indications
This mentioned medication is approved for the treatment of Acute Coronary Syndrome. It helps to reduce the rate of myocardial infarction and stroke in people with non–ST-segment elevation ACS. It is also useful for people who are to be managed medically and those who are to be managed with coronary revascularization. In people with established peripheral arterial disease or with a history of myocardial infarction or recent stroke the medication Plavix is indicated to reduce the rate of MI and stroke.
Action Mechanism
This effective medicine Plavix acts by preventing platelets apart and restricting them from sticking together and forming clots. It also reduces the risk of a future stroke or heart attack in this way. The drug is a platelet inhibitor that reduces the number of platelets in the blood.
