Description
Active Ingredient: It is composed of active ingredient Verapamil Hydrochloride, which is the hydrochloride form of Verapamil, which is a phenylethylamine calcium channel blocking agent. This agent inhibits the transmembrane influx of extracellular calcium ions into myocardial and vascular smooth muscle cells, causing dilatation of the main coronary and systemic arteries and decreasing myocardial contractility. It inhibits the drug efflux pump P-glycoprotein which is over-expressed in some multi-drug resistant tumors and may improve the efficacy of some anti-neoplastic agents.
Indications: Verapamil composed medicine is approved to treat high blood pressure. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Calan SR is a calcium channel blocker that acts by relaxing blood vessels so blood can flow more easily.
It prevents chest pain. It may help to increase your ability to exercise and decrease how often you may get angina attacks. It also controls your heart rate if you have a fast/irregular heartbeat such as atrial fibrillation. It helps to lower the heart rate, helping you to feel more comfortable and increase your ability to exercise.

Dosages: This medication is available for oral consumption and in dosage as mentioned below:
- 120 mg: This medicine is a oral drug shall be taken with or without food as directed by the doctor, usually 3 or 4 times a day
- 240 mg: It is to be consumed 3 to 4 times a day as prescribed by the doctor
Note: This medicine shall not be consumed if you have a serious heart condition such as “sick sinus syndrome” or severe heart failure.
