Description
Active Ingredient: Given medicine is composed of a combination of two active ingredients Quinapril Hydrochloride / Hydrochlorothiazide. Quinapril Hydrochloride is a non-sulfhydryl angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor that has antihypertensive activity. It binds to and inhibits ACE, thereby blocking the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II. It also abolishes the potent vasoconstrictive actions of angiotensin II and results in vasodilatation. It causes a reduction in angiotensin II-induced aldosterone secretion by the adrenal cortex so as to promote the diuresis and natriuresis, and increases bradykinin levels.
Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic used to treat hypertension and edema. It appears to bind to and accumulate in red blood cells and excreted by the kidneys.
