Description
Active Ingredient: Telmisartan / Hydrochlorothiazide is a combination of two active ingredients. Telmisartan is a non-peptide angiotensin II receptor antagonist used to treat high blood pressure. It antagonizes angiotensin II binding to the AT1 subtype receptor. The antagonism leads to vasodilation and inhibits the angiotensin II-mediated aldosterone production. It leads to a decrease in sodium and water as well as an increase in potassium excretion leading to a subsequent reduction in blood pressure.
Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic used to treat hypertension and edema. It appears to preferentially bind to and accumulate in red blood cells. It excreted by the kidneys used for the treatment of hypertension and congestive heart failure. It plays the role of a xenobiotic, an environmental contaminant, a diuretic, and an antihypertensive agent.
Indications: This mentioned medication is indicated to treat high blood pressure. Decreasing high blood pressure prevents strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. It is a combination of 2 medications like telmisartan and hydrochlorothiazide. Telmisartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker that works by relaxing blood vessels so blood can flow more easily. Hydrochlorothiazide is a water pill that increases the amount of urine produces. Micardis HCT helps to relax the blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily.
Action Mechanism: High blood pressure exerts pressure on the heart that makes harder to pump blood through the body and causes damage to the blood vessels. Micardis HCT can help blood vessels relax so the blood pressure is lower.
