Description
Active Ingredient: This medicine has a combination of two active ingredients Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide. Lisinopril is a long-acting angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor that has antihypertensive activity. It is a synthetic peptide derivative that binds to and inhibits ACE to block the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II. It helps prevents the potent vasoconstrictive actions of angiotensin II and results in vasodilation.
Hydrochlorothiazide is used to treat hypertension and edema. This active factor is primarily excreted by the kidneys. It plays the role of a xenobiotic, an environmental contaminant, a diuretic, and an antihypertensive agent.
Indications: Given the medication contains a combination of hydrochlorothiazide and lisinopril. It is a thiazide diuretic that helps prevent the body from absorbing too much salt, it can cause fluid retention. Lisinopril, an ACE inhibitor drug that stands for the angiotensin-converting enzyme, lowers blood pressure and also relieves symptoms of fluid retention. Zestoretic is indicated to treat hypertension i.e. high blood pressure.
Action Mechanism: This effective medication is a combination of two components. The ACE inhibitor works by relaxing blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily. Hydrochlorothiazide, a water pill that causes more urine formation that helps the body get rid of extra salt and water.
Zestoretic can be used with other medications for the treatment of high blood pressure.
