Active Ingredient: Tretinoin is used as the main active component, which is a naturally-occurring acid of retinol. This active ingredient binds to and activates retinoic acid receptors to induce changes in gene expression that lead to cell differentiation, reduced cell proliferation, and inhibition of tumorigenesis. It also inhibits telomerase, leads to telomere shortening and eventual apoptosis of some tumor cell types. Retinoic acid functions in determining position along the embryonic anterior/posterior axis in chordates. This drug helps to control anterior/posterior patterning in early developmental stages.
