Active Ingredient: Given medicine is a combination of three active ingredients such as Olmesartan 20 mg + Amlodipine 5 mg + Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg. Olmesartan is a synthetic imidazole derivative and angiotensin II receptor antagonist with antihypertensive activity. It binds to the angiotensin type 1 (AT1) receptor subtype in vascular smooth muscle and adrenal gland, thereby competing with angiotensin II for binding to the AT1 receptor.
Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker with antihypertensive and antianginal properties. It inhibits the influx of extracellular calcium ions into myocardial and peripheral vascular smooth muscle cells, thereby preventing vascular and myocardial contraction.
Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that is widely used to treat hypertension and edema. This agent’s metabolite appears to preferentially bind to and accumulate in red blood cells. This agent is primarily excreted by the kidneys.
Indications: This medication is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems.
Tribenzor contains 3 medications: olmesartan, amlodipine, and hydrochlorothiazide. They both work by relaxing blood vessels so blood can flow more easily. Hydrochlorothiazide is called a “water pill” (diuretic) and causes your body to get rid of extra salt and water by making more urine.
Action Mechanism: This medication has a specific medical agent designed to block angiotensin II, a natural chemical in your body. This can raise blood pressure by causing blood vessels to tighten and narrow. By blocking this chemical, Tribenzor widens and relaxes blood vessels to help lower blood pressure. It has medicine that works directly on the specific muscles that tighten and narrow blood vessels to relax and widen vessels even more.
Dosages: This medication is available for oral consumption and in dosage as mentioned below:
- 20 mg- 5 mg-12.5 mg: Take this medication with or without food as directed by the doctor, usually once a day
- 40 mg- 5 mg- 12. 5mg: It is to be taken once a day with or without food exactly as directed by the doctor
Note: Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant. If you become pregnant, stop taking this medicine and tell the doctor right away.
What is Tribenzor?
Tribenzor contains a combination of amlodipine, hydrochlorothiazide, and olmesartan. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes (widens) blood vessels and improves blood flow.
What is Tribenzor used for?
Tribenzor is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Tribenzor is usually given after other blood pressure medicines have been tried without successful treatment.
How should Tribenzor be taken?
Tribenzor is usually taken once per day. Follow all directions on the prescription label. The doctor may occasionally change the dose for best results. Do not take this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
What should be avoided while taking Tribenzor?
Do not use potassium supplements or salt substitutes. Drinking alcohol can further lower the blood pressure. Avoid getting up too fast from a sitting or lying position.
What other drugs will affect Tribenzor?
Many drugs can interact with Tribenzor. Consult the doctor in case taking blood pressure medicines, lithium, a diuretic or “water pill”, insulin or oral diabetes medicine, steroid medicine, vitamin or mineral supplements that contain potassium, a barbiturate – butabarbital, phenobarbital, and secobarbital.
