Description
Active Ingredient: It is a combination of two active ingredients. Atenolol is a cardioselective beta-blocker, which is widely used to treat hypertension and angina pectoris. It plays the role of a beta-adrenergic antagonist, an anti-arrhythmia drug, an antihypertensive agent, a sympatholytic agent, a xenobiotic and an environmental contaminant.
Chlorthalidone is a diuretic drug that treats hypertension and edema caused by conditions includes heart failure or renal impairment. Tenoretic improves blood pressure and swelling. The active component prevents water absorption from the kidneys.
Indications: This medication mainly approved for the treatment of high blood pressure. Tenoretic also helps the body to get rid of extra salt and water.
Action Mechanism Atenolol works by blocking the action of certain natural chemicals in the body, on the heart and blood vessels. The chemical substances are like epinephrine. It lowers the heart rate, blood pressure, and strain on the heart. Chlorthalidone is a water pill i.e. diuretic and causes the body to get rid of extra salt and water.
Dosages: This given medication is available in capsule form. The dosage of this capsule is as follow:
- Atenolol 100 mg + Chlorthalidone 25 mg: This medication is to be administered least 4 hours before the bedtime
Note: It is advisable to avoid drinking apple/orange juice within 4 hours of administrating this medication, it may prevent the absorption of this medicine.
