Livalo belongs to a group of drugs called statins that reduces the amount of cholesterol produced by the liver. Decreasing bad cholesterol and triglycerides and maximizing good cholesterol. This medicine may be taken with a proper diet like a low-cholesterol/low-fat diet, other lifestyle changes that may help this medication work better including exercising, losing weight if overweight, and stopping smoking.
Action Mechanism: This mentioned medication blocks an enzyme called 3-hydroxy-3methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase. This is an important protein needed in the formation of cholesterol in the body. Livalo reduces total cholesterol, LDL, and VLDL cholesterol in the body.
