Description
Active Ingredient
Given medication has the main active component, Fluvastatin Sodium. This component is the sodium salt of a synthetic lipid-lowering agent. It shows the potential antineoplastic activity. It acts by inhibiting the hepatic 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A i.e. HMG-CoA reductase, the enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of HMG-CoA to mevalonate. It is a key step in cholesterol synthesis.
This active agent decreases the plasma cholesterol and lipoprotein levels and modulates immune responses through the suppression of MHC II on interferon gamma-stimulated, antigen-presenting cells such as human vascular endothelial cells. This inhibition of mevalonate synthesis helps to lower cholesterol.
