Indications
Furosemide composed medicine Lasix is used to reduce extra fluid in the body caused by conditions such as heart failure, liver disease, and kidney disease. This can lessen symptoms such as shortness of breath and swelling in your arms, legs, and abdomen. It is also used to treat high blood pressure. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. This is a “water pill” that causes you to make more urine. This helps your body get rid of extra water and salt.
Action Mechanism
Given diuretic pill works by blocking the absorption of sodium, chloride, and water from the filtered fluid in the kidney tubules, causing a profound increase in the output of urine (diuresis). The onset of action after injection is five minutes and the duration of diuresis is two hours. The diuretic effect of Lasix can cause depletion of sodium, chloride, body water and other minerals. Therefore, careful medical supervision is necessary during treatment.
