Description
Active Ingredient: The active component of this medicine is Linezolid. It is a synthetic oxazolidinone derivative that selectively inhibits bacterial protein synthesis and affects blood pressure through monoamine oxidase inhibition. It can be used against Gram-positive organisms such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus strains, coagulase-negative Staphylococci, vancomycin-resistant Enterococci, and penicillin-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae strains. It is an oxazolidinone class antibiotic that treats serious or problematic infections induced by resistant enterococcal or staphylococcal organisms.
Indications: This mentioned antibiotic is approved to treat certain serious bacterial infections that restrict the growth of bacteria in the body. It is recommended to treat only bacterial infections not viral infections like common cold or flu. It should not be used to prevent infections.
Zyvox composed of active ingredient that also belongs to a class of drugs called MAO inhibitors. It increases the levels of certain natural substances in the body like dopamine, norepinephrine, serotonin which can increase the chance of certain side effects and food and drug interactions.
Action Mechanism: This medication is a synthetic antibiotic works against bacteria like Enterococcus faecium, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus agalactiae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, and others. It prevents bacteria from growing by interfering with their ability to produce proteins. Zyvox does not interfere with the formation of proteins in humans.
Dosages: Above mentioned antibiotic is available in a conventional tablet form for oral consumption in a dosage as given below:
- 600 mg: This medication should be taken every 12 hours with or without food as directed by the doctor
