Description
Active Ingredient: The main active component of this medicine is Irbesartan, which is a nonpeptide angiotensin II antagonist with antihypertensive activity. This active component selectively and competitively blocks the binding of angiotensin II to the angiotensin I receptor. Angiotensin II stimulates aldosterone synthesis and secretion by adrenal cortex. This decreases the excretion of sodium and increases the excretion of potassium. Angiotensin II also acts as a vasoconstrictor in vascular smooth muscle.
Indications: Irbesartan composed medicine belongs to a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor blockers. Avapro keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow.
It is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It is sometimes given together with other blood pressure medications. Avapro is also used to treat kidney problems caused by type 2 diabetes.

Note: If you have diabetes, do not use this medicine together with any medication that contains aliskiren.
