Active Ingredient: Rizatriptan Benzoate is the main active component in this medicine. This medicine is the benzoate salt form of rizatriptan, called triptan that shows the anti-migraine property. It acts by binding to and activating serotonin (5-HT) 1B receptors expressed in intracranial arteries, and to 5-HT 1D receptors. This results in constriction of cranial vessels and inhibition of nociceptive transmission, so as to provide relief of migraine headaches. It also treats migraine headaches by inhibition of pro-inflammatory neuropeptide release.
Indications: Rizatriptan Benzoate is indicated to treat migraines that help to relieve headache, pain, and other migraine symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light/sound. Prompt treatment helps to live a normal routine and may reduce the need for other pain medications. Maxalt belongs to a class of drugs known as triptans that affects a certain natural substance. It causes narrowing of blood vessels in the brain that also relieve pain by affecting certain nerves in the brain.

- 10 mg: This drug must be taken on an empty stomach as prescribed by the doctor
Note: This medicine does not prevent future migraines or lessen how often a person gets migraine attacks.

Maxalt is a headache medicine that narrows the blood vessels around the brain. Rizatriptan also reduces substances in the body that can trigger headache pain, nausea, sensitivity to light and sound, and other migraine symptoms.
What is Maxalt used for?
Maxalt is used to treat migraine headaches. Maxalt will only treat a headache that has already begun. It will not prevent headaches or reduce the number of attacks.
How should Maxalt be consumed?
Take Maxalt as soon as you notice migraine symptoms. Take the regular tablet whole with a full glass of water. Maxalt may be taken with or without food.
What should be avoided while using Maxalt?
Avoid consuming medicines like rizatriptan – almotriptan, eletriptan, frovatriptan, naratriptan, sumatriptan, zolmitriptan, and others; or ergot medicine.
What happens if dose of Mazalt is missed?
Since Maxalt is used as needed, it does not have a daily dosing schedule. Call your doctor promptly if your symptoms do not improve after using Maxalt.
