Active Ingredient
Rizatriptan Benzoate is the main active component in this medicine. This medicine is the benzoate salt form of rizatriptan, called triptan which shows the anti-migraine property. It acts by binding to and activating serotonin (5-HT) 1B receptors expressed in intracranial arteries, and to 5-HT 1D receptors. This results in constriction of cranial vessels and inhibition of nociceptive transmission, to provide relief of migraine headaches. It also treats migraine headaches by inhibition of pro-inflammatory neuropeptide release.

Prompt treatment helps to live a normal routine and may reduce the need for other pain medications. Maxalt belongs to a class of drugs known as triptans that affects a certain natural substance.
