Description

Active Ingredient: This medicine is a combination of two drugs Amiloride Hydrochloride + Hydrochlorothiazide. Amiloride Hydrochloride is the hydrochloride salt of amiloride, a synthetic pyrazine derivative with antikaliuretic. It possesses diuretic properties. It inhibits sodium channels present in the distal tubules. So as to prevent the absorption of sodium and increase its excretion along with water.

Hydrochlorothiazide is a benzothiadiazine that is benzothiadiazine dioxide substituted by a chloro group and a sulfonamide. The ingredient is diuretic that treats hypertension and congestive heart failure. It also plays the role of a xenobiotic, an environmental contaminant, and an antihypertensive agent.

Indications: The given medication is a combination of hydrochlorothiazide and amiloride, which is effective solution to treat fluid retention i.e. edema and high blood pressure i.e. hypertension. It is recommended in the people who have low amounts of potassium in their bodies.

Action Mechanism:  The combination of amiloride and hydrochlorothiazide is a water pills i.e. diuretics and cause the body to get rid of extra salt and water. Due to this, the medicine increases the amount of urine after initiating the pill. It can also be used to treat or prevent low blood potassium levels.

Dosages: This given medicine is approved for the treatment of fluid retention and high blood pressure. Moduretic is available in a dosage as mentioned below:

• Amiloride Hydrochloride 5 mg + Hydrochlorothiazide 50 mg: This medicine is available for oral administration, usually taken once or twice a day with or without food as directed by the doctor
