- Gemfibrozil, the active ingredient used in similar drugs like Lopid
- Lopid is composed of a white or brown oval conventional tablet and packed as 10 tablets per blister, dosages are available in Lopid 300 mg and Lopid 600 mg
- Effectiveness can be seen after 3 months of the treatment
Directions for Use
Gemfibrozil should be taken twice a day 30 minutes before meals, as prescribed by the doctor
Do’s and Don’ts
- Talk to the doctor before consuming this medicine in case of medical history of liver disease, prostate cancer, infections, urinary problems
- Do not share Lopid with others
- Perform medical tests such as cholesterol/triglyceride levels, kidney/liver function tests, and complete blood count periodically
- Maintain a proper diet

Precautions
- Seek immediate medical attention if observed serious allergic reaction like rash, itching/swelling, especially of the face/tongue/throat, severe dizziness, trouble breathing
- Talk to the doctor about medical history like liver disease such as biliary cirrhosis, gallbladder disease, kidney disease, alcohol use
- Missed dose can be taken as soon as remembered
- Gemfibrozil should not be used in children and women
- Not suitable for breastfeeding women, Gemfibrozil may have undesirable effects on a nursing infant
Storage
- Store at a controlled room temperature between below 30oC
- Protect from excess heat, direct sunlight, and excessive humidity
- Keep Gemfibrozil in its original container, tightly closed and away from children
Disposal
- Contact environmental regulatory agencies for acceptable disposal practices
- Do not flush down in the toilet or throw in the drainage
