Active Ingredient

This medicine has an active component Quetiapine Fumarate. This is a dibenzothiazepine derivative that shows the antipsychotic property. This active component antagonizes serotonin activity mediated by 5-HT 1A and 5-HT2 receptors. It has a lower affinity that reversibly binds to dopamine D1 and D2 receptors in the mesolimbic and mesocortical areas of the brain which leads to a reduction of psychotic effects. It decreases hallucinations and delusions.

This medication is approved to treat certain mental/mood conditions like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, sudden episodes of mania, or depression related to bipolar disorder. Seroquel is known as an anti-psychotic drug that helps to restore the balance of certain natural substances in the brain.

It also decreases hallucinations and improves concentration. It may also improve mood, sleep, appetite, and energy level. It can prevent severe mood swings or reduce how often mood swings occur.

This medicine is thought to work in the brain to treat schizophrenia. Seroquel is also known as a second-generation antipsychotic or atypical antipsychotic that rebalances dopamine and serotonin to improve thinking, mood, and behavior.

Dosages
