Active Ingredient

The active component of this medicine is Pantoprazole Sodium. It is an active component belonging to a group of drugs called proton pump inhibitors. It shows an antacid activity. It is a lipophilic weak base that crosses the parietal cell membrane and enters the acidic parietal cell canaliculus. It also produces the active metabolite sulphenamide, which forms an irreversible covalent bond with two sites on the gastric parietal cell to inhibit both basal and stimulated gastric acid production. It treats erosion and ulceration of the esophagus induced by gastroesophageal reflux disease. It is used as maintenance therapy for long-term use after an initial response is obtained.

Indications

Pantoprazole composed of medicine is indicated to treat certain stomach and esophagus problems like acid reflux. It decreases the amount of acid the stomach makes. Protonix relieves symptoms like heartburn, difficulty swallowing, and persistent cough. This helps heal acid damage to the stomach and esophagus prevents ulcers and may help prevent cancer of the esophagus. This is a proton pump inhibitor that decreases the amount of acid produced in the stomach.

It is also used to treat erosive esophagitis in adults and children who are at least 5 years old. This drug is usually recommended for up to 8 weeks at a time while the esophagus heals.

Action Mechanism
