Active Ingredient: Lisinopril is the main active component of this medicine. It is a long-acting angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor that has antihypertensive activity. It works by binding to and inhibiting ACE to block the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II. It helps to prevent the potent vasoconstrictive actions of angiotensin II that leads to vasodilation. It decreases angiotensin II-caused aldosterone secretion by the adrenal cortex, which leads to an increase in sodium excretion and subsequently increases water outflow.
Indications: This medication belongs to a class of drugs known as ACE inhibitors. ACE stands for the angiotensin-converting enzyme that treats high blood pressure i.e. hypertension.
